ArtfactoryGersak - that's us: Susanne and Mirko Gersak and our daughter, an artist family from Mönchengladbach.
My husband and I came across metal as a material 15 years ago through a chance find in the workshop. It was three sheets of metal that had been lying on top of each other for years and had created an incredibly beautiful rust structure. When unfolded, the three panels presented an interesting symmetrical picture. This "objet trouvé", a random picture painted by nature, found a place of honor in our living room and the ambition awoke to do the same as nature did: Questions like "how do you create rust?" or "how do you make rust grow in different colors and shapes?" drove me from now on. I experimented with chemicals, water, syringes, watering cans and more. My husband did jobs like sanding or brushing to create a shiny contrast to the rust. He experimented with the burner to get different colors out of the surface. We got inspiration for our motifs primarily from nature.
Little by little, our characteristic high-contrast metal paintings were created and the first exhibitions followed, first in the immediate vicinity, then also in Berlin and abroad, for example in Shanghai or Malta.
For several years we have had our own showroom near Düsseldorf.
Our Etsy shop is now our latest project: Here we would like to find a platform for our small and medium-sized pictures, which can be sent easily and quickly and can find a place in every home.
Our small metal pictures also thrive on the contrast of picturesque rust and shiny, light-reflecting cut, offering a tension between nature and technology.
Our daughter contributes her works in the form of acrylic paintings and oil chalk drawings.
If you are looking for a special accent for your home, we invite you to browse our shop or visit us in our studio.
